UDJ says political repressions escalated

April 04, 2012 (ESAT News):
Even though Ethiopian Federal Democratic Unity Forum (UDJ) called a meeting for March 31, 2012 in a pre arranged hall of Mugger Cement Factory near Gotera, the party was denied the use of the hall at the last minute. Since the owner refused to rent the hall, the scheduled discussion regarding the ever rising cost of living and the new lease proclamation has been cancelled.  The chairperson of UDJ, Dr. Moga Ferissa indicated that the meeting was approved by the government and the rent for the hall paid, but the meeting could not go ahead due to orders of government higher authorities.
When responding to the question, “If you are struggling peacefully and unable to rent a hall, how would you able to keep struggling?”, Dr. Moga Ferissa responded as follows: (2፡25-2፡56)
Since UDJ did not sign the election protocol, it is considered as a terrorist organization. However, the organizations that are party to the election protocol did not get any benefit. Therefore signing the election protocol does not make any sense.
In related news, the court has decided the leader of Oromo Federal Democratic Movement, Mr. Bekele Gerba, as guilty and has been asked to defend his case of terrorism charges.
Mr. Bekele Gerba was imprisoned following the Arab Spring in the Middle East Countries fearing that he may insight similar uprisings. Mr. Bekele Gerba has consistently said his accusation is politically motivated.
